About E & M TV

My name is Phil Mead and I started at a company called Alex Owen at Beeston in 1972 after a nine month training course.

In those days most TVs were black and white and used valves.

I entered the job as a field service engineer and was supplied with a Morris 1000 Van reg. BRR 936H.

Serving areas such as Nottingham, Beeston, Attenborough, Long Eaton, Derby, Eastwood, Belper, Matlock, and Wirksworth .

After Alex Owen ceased trading in 1975 I joined Wigfalls Mansfield after upgrading to colour.

I continued working for the same company transferring to Nottingham then Derby.

In 1988 Wigfalls ceased trading and then another transfer to company called Servicepoint, this only lasted one year then another transfer to the last company I worked for was Servicescope .

This company ceased trading in 1991.

From July 1991 another engineer Walter Elliott and I began trading as E & M TV.

We repaired TV’s and Video’s progressing to Analogue Sky Satellite boxes in the mid nineties .

As time progressed we also had work installing and tuning these devices.

As time went on TVs became larger and more time was spent collecting and delivering.

This arrangement continued until October 2009 when Walter retired, from then on I continued on my own to the present day.
